Diego Mallo (Vigo, Spain) is a visual artist and illustrator based in Barcelona who works in editorial, press, commercial and children's illustration.
He gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, and completed his studies in the UK (Exeter, Winchester and Brighton Universities).
Often tinged with a sharp irony, his illustrations lead one to read between the lines. Interdisciplinary experimentation defines his style, from naturalistic drawing to visual poetry, photo illustration or paper sculptures.
Among his clients are Penguin Random House, Die Zeit, Planeta (Seix Barral, Crítica, Península, Tusquets, Empúries, Edicions 62), Unicef, McGraw-Hill, Hachette Filipacchi, Vice, Ediciones Glénat, Continental Animación, La Galera, Run Design, l’Arsa Montserrat, and Castellnou.
His work has been published in international magazines as Zeit Literatur, Novum, Rooms, Ammo, etc.
In 2014 he has been featured in 3X3 Illustration Directory, New York.
Furthermore he runs workshops of illustration, drawing and creativity, regularly at La Escocesa and diverse schools in Barcelona.
